Family Fun at Uptown Lacrosse

Open House

March 22nd, Uptown Lacrosse held its first Open House at the Pinkerton Clubhouse at Madison Square Boys & Girls Club. Held from 10 to Noon, the Open House allowed parents to personally sign their kids up with Uptown Lacrosse.

The first half hour was a small breakfast with coffee, donuts, breakfast bars and fruit, where the parents could fill out their application forms and the kids could hydrate and intake some healthy foods before going out on the field.

From 10:30 to 12, we were on the rooftop field where the kids took part in a community lacrosse clinic coached by Krissy Anderson (U Mass-Amherst) and Idriss Traore (Bishop John Fisher). Each kid got a pair of goggles and a new stick donated by STX. After warmups, the kids learned how to catch and throw, cradle the stick, scoop ground balls, play “Wall Ball” and shoot on goal.

Our State Assemblyman, Al Taylor surprised us with a visit! Assemblyman Taylor even picked up a stick and took a few shots at goal. What a great day for Uptown Lacrosse!

Uptown Lacrosse’s mission is to “Grow the Game” making lacrosse accessible to youth as early as 3rd grade. Uptown Lacrosse is honored to have Princeton University, STX and USA Lacrosse as its partners. We will hold another Open
House on March 29th with the Uptown Lacrosse Academy beginning April 5th. Our Spring Season will run Saturdays, at the Pinkerton Clubhouse at Madison Square Boys & Girls Club (250 Bradhurst) from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon until
June 28th.
